Looking forward it’s amazing how much enjoyment people get looking back, if the flurry of excitement about a new audience tape of Deep Purple from back in Feb 1972 at the Dagenham Roundhouse is to go by. The owner had got in touch with us in the lead-up to Christmas but seemed unable to wait to see if this could be done officially and pushed it out into the pirate networks instead. Amazing that new recordings can still emerge after forty plus years. It seems churlish to point out (as one expert did) that the cover photo is from the night before…!

Many thanks to Chris for this concert.
Here are short messages from Chris:
"In 1972 a friend of mine taped Deep Purple at the Roundhouse Dagenham and
I recently transcribed the recording to CD. As it is very good quality, I wish
to make it widely available."
...
"Good to see it so well received, according to my friend the last two tracks are
from RAH 71 and you can tell the tonal quality is slightly different from the
previous tracks. My friend recorded and I have been making them available as
and when I get them from my friend, he has a very simple audio CD revorder so
I close up tape gaps and put in track markers but I leave the music as is. We
are lucky that he looked after them for so long, some have deteriorated. Still I
am really pleased that so many people have enjoyed these recordings."
Very good sound quality for an audience recording of this age.
Some slight fluctuation on one channel.
